Overview

The Dermatology Department at Iran University of Medical Sciences is one of the oldest departments within the School of Medicine. It is dedicated to providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care, advancing research, and delivering high-quality education to medical students, including externs, interns, and dermatology residents.

Currently, the department comprises ten faculty members who engage in clinical, research, and educational activities across several hospitals, including Hazrat Fatemeh Hospital, Rasoul Akram Hospital, Firoozgar Hospital, Firoozabadi Hospital, Moheb Kowsar Hospital, Shahid Motahari Hospital, and Hazrat Ali Asghar Hospital.

Scope of Activities

The specialists and faculty members of the Dermatology Department are actively involved in the following areas:

Educational Activities

• Providing clinical education and training for medical students, externs, interns, and dermatology residents.

Clinical Activities

• Operating specialized dermatology outpatient clinics at multiple hospitals, with inpatient services available at Hazrat Fatemeh Hospital.

Dermatologic Surgery

• Performing a range of surgical procedures in accordance with the dermatology specialty curriculum, including:
• Various skin biopsies
• Excision of benign and malignant lesions
• Excision of different types of cysts
• Nail surgeries
• Skin flap and graft procedures

Aesthetic Dermatology

• Offering a comprehensive array of aesthetic dermatology services, including:
• Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
• Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)
• Microneedling
• Mesotherapy
• Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF)
• Fat injection
• Thread lifting
• Dermal filler injection
• Nanofat
• Subcision
• Double-chin liposuction

Research Activities

• Engaging in the preparation and supervision of theses for medical students and dermatology residents, as well as writing and publishing clinical research articles in reputable international journals.

• PDL and CO2 laser systems at Hazrat Fatemeh Hospital and Shahid Motahari Hospital
• Q-Switched laser and hair removal equipment at Hazrat Fatemeh Hospital
• Electrosurgical equipment
• Microneedling devices
• Centrifuge and biofiller equipment
• Cryotherapy spray equipment
